National Tree Planting Days

Schools and environmental groups across Wyndham are working their green thumbs this month as part of National Tree Planting Day – and residents are being invited to join in.

Trees will be planted at venues across Wyndham, focusing on the banks of the Werribee River, Skeleton Creek and Little River.

Residents can take part at any of the following National Tree Planting Day events in Wyndham:

* July 30th at Hoppers Drain at 11am along the Skeleton Creek (Mel Ref: 203 B11) organised by the Bellbridge Primary School;
* July 31st at Manorvale Parade at 10am along the Werribee River (Mel Ref: 205 F6) organised by Manorvale Primary School;
* July 31st at Pub Flat Reserve at 10am along the Little River (Mel Ref: 200 C5) as part of the Little River Improvement Project;
* August 2nd at Shaws Road Bridge at 9am along the Werribee River (Mel Ref: 205 F5) organised by the Werribee River Association;
* August 2nd at Cambridge Drive at 9.30am along the drainage reserve (Mel Ref: 205 C8) organised by Wyndham City Council and Greenfleet;
* August 2nd at Grant’s Bridge at 9.30am along the Little River (Me Ref: 200 A4) organised by the Little River Improvement Project.

The tree planting forms part of the Waterway Revegetation Project which will help regenerate the Werribee River, Little River and Skeleton Creek. As part of the project, over 37,000 plants will be planted along the banks of these waterways.

As well as a variety of different trees, participants will also be planting grasses and wildflowers to improve the biodiversity of flora in Wyndham.
